I hate to break it to you but while Britain has a Royal Family, our government is run by people who can hardly be called "competent".

Just because our elected representatives get nothing done doesn't mean they aren't competent.

We vote for gridlock, we get gridlock. It's a feature, not a bug.

I don't think a king would help. Too many people fell for the lies of a demagogue. Trump's celebrity was incidental.

A nice royal family can do all the appearances and hand holding and such, while competent people run the government.

Give the people what they want and we can all live and prosper.

I am actually getting serious about this - people seem to have this need to admire some family, keep them around in the public eye and gossip about them. They vote for presidents that fit the bill.

If the people need public pets, let there be a king who can do no harm.

Well we certainly plenty of people inbred enough to choose from.
We overthrew a king. And ever since at least half the population has been struggling to replace him.
And coincidentally they seem to be the inbreeds.

Mate, sorry to bring bad news. The King was found dead in a shag pile carpet.

He has many impercinators. Wink

I will call him a liar and a dog here and now.

Why don't you just invite queen Lizzie back? I mean. They're used to royalling. They know the deal. Formal readmittance into the British empire on a ceremonial basis.

I know, we could borrow Prince Harry. I bet he would go over very well. He does enough unusual stuff to keep the tongues flapping, he is cute and he will probably have a family soon. He is perfect.

The US needs a King? That's what English Bob said (in the movie "Unforgiven"):

Of course, anyone who has seen the movie knows what happened to English Bob.

Indeed, he would be able to represent the current state of america and its culture very well. Tongue

Oh dear, I forgot about that! I did see it when it happened but I guess I didn't take it seriously.... ok, we'll find another candidate.

You could just as well use the pictures from Vegas. The ones I'm not sure I could post here because of anti porn rules.
