The best christmas songs?

And nobody brought Achmed the Dead Terrorist's hit single "Jingle Bombs"?

I am disappoint.

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.

The best Christmas songs
Chas, beautiful! One of these years I will (maybe) hear that song without sobbing my eyes out. Not this year! Smile

I loved singing "Angels We Have Heard on High" when I was a kid. That Gloria part is fun.

Fine then.

Glory to the newborn Bob. Bethlehem, PA ain't that far from me, easy to see how they might've got DC mixed up with Bethlehem. Tongue

Oh come let us adore Bob, Oh come let us adore Bob.

Gloria, in excelsius Bobo!

Joy to the World, the Bob has come! (Never heard of TSO before, Tim, thanx.)

And finally, Jeremiah can vouch for Bob. Big Grin

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
And I will show you something different from either

RE: The best Christmas songs
Children,

It doesn't get better than the Kink's "Father Christmas":

When I was small I believed in santa claus
Though I knew it was my dad
And I would hang up my stocking at christmas
Open my presents and I'd be glad

But the last time I played father christmas
I stood outside a department store
A gang of kids came over and mugged me
And knocked my reindeer to the floor

They said:
Father christmas, give us some money
Don't mess around with those silly toys.
Well beat you up if you don't hand it over
We want your bread so don't make us annoyed
Give all the toys to the little rich boys

Don't give my brother a steve austin outfit
Don't give my sister a cuddly toy
We don't want a jigsaw or monopoly money
We only want the real mccoy

Father christmas, give us some money
Well beat you up if you make us annoyed
Father christmas, give us some money
Don't mess around with those silly toys

But give my daddy a job cause he needs one
Hes got lots of mouths to feed
But if youve got one, I'll have a machine gun
So I can scare all the kids down the street

Father christmas, give us some money
We got no time for your silly toys
Well beat you up if you don't hand it over
Give all the toys to the little rich boys

Have yourself a merry merry christmas
Have yourself a good time
But remember the kids who got nothin
While you're drinkin down your wine

Father christmas, give us some money
We got no time for your silly toys
Well beat you up if you don't hand it over
We want your bread, so don't make us annoyed
Give all the toys to the little rich boys

RE: The best Christmas songs
I absolutely love the melody of Oh Holy Night. It's funny I never thought much of Silent Night as a song, until I moved here and one Christmas we had quite a bit of snow. At night with more snow falling it was soooo quiet and still. Here...We're used to the sound of rain or wind....

I grew up in California, if we wanted to "see" snow, we'd have to go to Lake Tahoe and here I moved to this area where I could see snow falling. Ya, that was pretty cool. It still is kinda.

RE: The best Christmas songs
The one and only Vivaldi.

Not sure if this is exactly a Xmas song (or just a winter one), but I love it, particularly this interpretation.

'Tis ill for a mind to anger inclined
To think of small injuries now;
If wrath be to seek do not lend her thy cheek
Nor let her inhabit thy brow.
Cross out of thy books malevolent looks,
Both beauty and youth's decay,
And wholly consort with mirth and with sport
To drive the cold winter away.

I prefer another version, but cannot find it online.
