MU = ∆TU/∆Q - > 0, as Q - > IP
IP = Indifference Point

That's the cure for greed.

No, that's the explanation of how it works, a cure would be a way to actively modify the indifference point

I disagree. If people understood that the MU is actually 0, at a rather low level, they wouldn't worry about it much. Maybe I'm wrong, as my IP is so low.

I agree, but that understanding is the indicator of a cured person, not the cure itself... but I'm just babbling semantic gibberish, greed is not a disease, is a vice, a way people behave, so there's no cure Sad

RE: The cure for greed
Besides the economic model, there are a couple other considerations from Psychology, in determination of the IP.

1. Habituation, and the decreasing response to a given stimulus.
http://psychology.wikia.com/wiki/Habituation

2. Choice overload.
http://hci.stanford.edu/courses/cs547/ab...tmore.html

What think ye ?

So what I've always thought is, that the LACK of habituation is one of the major causes. It's a case of "the grass is always greener", and "outside looking in".
I happen to be on the inside, (^ value of TU/Q), and have always thought that if people understood life is in NO WAY any different, in any substantial way, at higher values of TU/Q, their goals/values would be different.
That assumes a basic survival level (minimal cutoff of TU/Q) is met. After that the MU starts to drop quickly, for "non-materiaists", who are habituated.

Fuck the fancy math, there is no cure for greed but there is a prophylactic: Get what you need and make it what you want, learn how to be fucking satisfied and satiated. ... fucking fools. ... Nobody listens. Weeping

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
And I will show you something different from either
Your shadow at morning striding behind you
Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.
