The difference between God and Christians...
It seems that there are a lot of hateful Christians in the world. So my question is, if some of the things they do are in the name of the Lord, then does the Bible tell them to mistreat non-believers, or is that just a personal thing they choose to do?

Welcome to TTA.

Sura 4:89 of the Quran expresses the definitive word of the same god ...

Quote:They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved so you would be alike. So do not take from among them allies until they emigrate for the cause of Allah . But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them and take not from among them any ally or helper.

The bible says that non-believers are fools. Should fools be mistreated? Certainly teased. Big Grin

Also, this lot

The verse defines a fool, as a person who says in their heart there is no God. Atheist don't believe there is no God, they just lack a belief in one, therefore they don't fall under the definition of fools.

The only source you get is some bumpkin's word - that he's doing shit "in the name of god"......

Consider the source, and consider there is no god.

What do you get????

The Bible is not big on differences. There are many passages on stoning individuals who are different or stray from the group. This is where *some* Christians find fuel for their hatred of others.

RE: The difference between God and Christians...
Well Allah and the God of the Bible say different things. In the Bible, God tells his people to take back their promised land. They fought to defend their beliefs in God whereas Allah says to kill people who won't convert. Muslims will argue that though saying those verses are taken out of context and don't apply today. So which group do we refer to as Christians? Do we consider Allah's followers Christians because I thought that term derived from followers of Jesus Christ, and they don't believe Jesus is the Son of God.

There was that little inquisition stink back in the day, coverting non-believers was taken more seriously then I suppose.

Well nobody says anything in their heart anyway... but strong/gnostic atheists do say there is no god.

God has plenty of supposed kill the youngin' "other tribes" orders and people make their own orders up at times too.
