RE: The dress that sparked WWIII
Anyone did what I did? Look hard at the picture and cannot fathom how people can actually see the dress as white and gold

I can't see how anyone could see it as blue and black. OK the white has a blueish tinge, but black rather than brown / gold?? Maybe it's something to do with the monitor? I've looked at the picture in the morning and the evening and it's the same each time. |

RE: The dress that sparked WWIII
OK so husband now says that it's blue and black. So I copied a section of the gold into gimp and pasted it onto a white background and he saw it as gold / brown. I changed the background to black and he still saw it as gold / brown.
I then did the same for the white section and he saw pale blue. I changed the background to black and he saw blue. I admit that it's a pale blue, pearlescent blue, but more like an off-white. But then he looked back at the original picture and just saw a blue and black dress. His perception of the picture changed. He thinks that his brain is automatically adjusting for it being over-exposed. |

Color constancy.
Edit: Also mood does not affect what colors we see. My walls in my bedroom are white and whether I'm sad or happy they have been and always will be white. ![]() "If you keep trying to better yourself that's enough for me. I was a little sad that the illusion is lost on me... Then I stopped being sad and returned to being the awesome, true colour detective I am.
...well maybe still a little sad that I literally CAN'T see it as gold/white or black/blue ![]() |

Hehe. I saw this on FB this am.
