I love their excitement over what is basically, "We ran a test and confirmed it was exactly what we expected".

Of course, in science, that's a major triumph.

And antimatter is just cool. I have always been more than a tiny bit curious why matter won out over antimatter. Hope they solve it.

It is a great joke, though, isn't it, RocketSurgeon. Big Grin

Nine species named after Obama

The pics below are of my favourite critters, while my favourite explanation for the choice of name is this: He told the Associated Press B. obamai reminded him of the sitting president of the United States (POTUS) because of its resilience throughout its life cycle, in addition to the fact that “it’s long. It’s thin. And it’s cool as hell.” Laugh out load

First one's a caterpillar. The other one... only time will tell Dodgy

And now, for cleansing the palate, this beauty:

With a dorsal fin that resembles a feathered headdress, a transparent body, and a frilly, external stomach that dangles from its neck like a strand of Christmas lights, this fantastical fish looks more like a Star Wars creation than a piece of pelagic plankton. [...] Biologist Jeffrey Milisen captured this photograph during a night dive off the coast of Kona, Hawaii, becoming the first photographer to ever document this larval cusk-eel alive.

It's a tale of madness, Gaston Julia; writing of iterations in his diary for two hundred pages of dreams that which would not be available to the rest of mankind until the inception of the information age and the birth of the computer...

I saw that. Don't you love watching physicists bicker? It's like watching nude geek mudwrestling.

There is only one really serious philosophical question, and that is suicide. -Camus
