RE: The elegant nature of science
I agree GirlyMan. It takes a big man to admit his mistakes but it takes a unique and great system to admit its mistakes. Science is a self-correcting system that provides us with the best possible explanations that exist, and then says "these aren't good enough, let's make them better!"

RE: The elegant nature of science
This is very informative... one might say... timely.
Yea, I said it. ![]() There is no shame in not knowing. The problem arises when irrational thought and attendant behavior fill the vacuum left by ignorance. ~ Neil deGrasse Tyson Perception is up for grabs, and truth seems to be the one precious thing, that no one wants anyone to find. |

RE: The elegant nature of science
I would love to take a class that discusses mainly the theory of quantum mechanics. I would want to audit it, so that I do not have to worry about a grade and I can instead focus on the lectures more freely. That would simply be too awesome of a class to worry about such trivial things as tests or grades.

RE: The elegant nature of science
I don't know about that, bearded dude... I got a book of that stuff one time, and it was all math. Yikes.

I would enjoy that as long as the professor spent more time explaining theory than explaining derivations. What book? RE: The elegant nature of science
I don't remember the name, it was a textbook I scrounged up online somewhere. I'm just thinking it is better to get the QM second or third hand, cause the front line is all with the squiggly math.
![]() As for the OP, bemore posted a vid on another thread that reminded me of the Schwarzschild Proton. Here's a link to the fringe at the Resonance project. Fringe science doesn't mean pseudo-science; but this cat is out there. ![]() Speaking of out there, here's Garrett Lisi on E8 at TED. Kicking it on TED, here's James Randi claiming to be a conjurer much in the same manner as I claim to be a witch. However, both are included in the science of conceptual engineering.

Can't have no elegance on an atheist forum without the prophet:
I mean, really.

Never needed no help recognizing truth before, don't need none now. Nice thing about atheism, prophets need not apply - there are no available positions.
