The end is nigh!!
So I watched a movie last night that got me thinking. The movie itself wasn't all that great, it had its moments, but the concept behind it was interesting.

What if there were a meteor headed for earth and we had no way of stopping it? What if we knew that the entire earth had only three weeks left until complete annihilation?

Only three weeks left, what would you do? Every priority you ever had is now up for grabs, and you now have to decide what experiences you will make your last.

I know we have a bucket list thread somewhere around here, but this is different. Would you have one last adventure? Would you seek out that one lost lover you've always wished you had told how you really feel? Would you take the opportunity to end it all yourself on your own conditions? Would you abandon your current situation in search of something more meaningful before it ends, or would you be content to stay where you are and relish the final moments?

Only three weeks left, and the whole world knows it. What would you do?

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

Evil_monster

Well, I always fancied myself as an assassin so I would offer my services to those who had already decided that they couldn't cope with the inevitable and were finding the wait unbearable.

Don't like it?

So, shoot me.

RE: The end is nigh!!
I'd first try to stock up on supplies to last me to the end. Have as much sex as possible with my husband. Cuddle my cats and fill them with as much tuna as they could eat (heck, I'll even let the big cat leo try to eat my hair to his hearts content which he so often seems to want to do). Have some final words of love with close friends and family. Then a couple days before impact I'd request DLJ's services. All the while trying to avoid crazies and looters. Thumbsup

Oh! And my weed stash would get all used up Smokin

I hope that the world turns, and things get better. But what I hope most of all is that you understand what I mean when I tell you that, even though I do not know you, and even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you, I love you. With all my heart, I love you. - V for Vendetta

RE: The end is nigh!!
the end? Naw, I would discredit it as being over exaggerated. Dig a REALLY Deep Hole, Fill it with stuff. Throw something up over the top of the hole and Wait out the aftermath.

Maybe build a hydroponics system there with artificial sunlight and air filtration system.

Get growing some stuff and raising enough livestock to breed and last me 2 years.

1 year for everything to settle and 1 year for everything to clear up.

Then come out and help rebuild with the rest of humanity that will undoubtedly survive.

First start off by recovering lost and old technology. Rebuild the Internet for communication as well starting with a Single City. Probably Portland Oregon.

Reform a government just like it was before and keep up with science and medical progress until the world is not only improved on what it used to be but everything is back as if nothing ever happened in the first place.

It should take about 50 years to accomplish this.

That was actually a scene used in the movie. Whether or not you're serious, it would be a guilt free way of finding out just what it would be like to take another life. Angel

I think I'd take General Melchett's approach...

"If nothing else works, a total pig headed refusal to look facts in the face will surely see us through."

Theists seem to get some mileage out of that.
