RE: The first public atheist monument in the U.S.!
The property "atheism" is not a reaction. The property of not believing in a god or gods is natural and normal and has existed for longer than our species. The word atheism is a reaction. The atheist movement is a reaction. Claiming the title atheist is to send a message that would be meaningless in the absence of religion and its effects. Claiming the title atheist is a reaction to religion in society, and American Atheists who put this together are a group formed around the reaction to religion in american society. The erection of this specific monument is a reaction to a monument to the 10 commandments being erected outside the same(?) courthouse and this erection being legally upheld.

Give me your argument in the form of a published paper, and then we can start to talk.

That was the slippage from when the sealant wasn't quite dry, I presume.

You and me said it Rev, they should have made it out of one whole piece...

I can totally see some redneck coming along, tying it to his pickup and driving off...

I am fairly confident that the monument didn't shift due to not being "set". It had been moved 2-3" over. It was sitting flat and whatnot.

One news article described it and also made sure to say that Hovind standing on it didn't cause the misalignment. Tongue

I don't really see the point in this monument... the Church of the Yogage disapproves. Tongue

Has anyone started a thread on weird church names? If not, that'd be a fun one.

I am offended that the name of my church obviously inspired this.
