RE: The gun thread. Enthusiasts only.
Serious question. Any recommendations on a BB or pellet gun that’s relatively inexpensive, accurate within twenty feet and reliable? I need to kill iguanas in my yard.

Fucking iguanas are eating my landscaping and my .357 mag seems like an over kill to use (pun intended).

You can pick up a Beeman RS2 on Amazon for $100. Accurate and powerful. It comes with a scope that is probably shit, but it has adjustable iron (probably plastic these days) sights. I used mine a few years back to take care of a dray of squirrels that had taken up residence in the attic.

RWS makes their base model .177 for about $150. Ruger sells an RWS with Ruger label for $149. You can usually get these for less at a big box store.

These are 1000+ fps .177 cal single shot. My brother and I used one to end a rat infestation.
One shot, one kill.

I second the suggestion for RWS. I've whacked many critter with mine...

Word of advice....

If you decide to ( or need to) put optics on it - do NOT buy a rifle scope for it.

Buy an AIRGUN scope.

The reticle support structure is different on the two - designed to withstand the recoil direction.

Single pump airguns recoil away from the shooters shoulder, unlike a rifle...

An airgun will ruin even a well built rifle scope.

Or go with a red dot type. Those work with either.

Why even use a firearm at all?

Why not just trap or poison them?

An airgun is quicker than traps or poinon ( if used properly) and more importantly - is more selective....

You might have other small critters you don't t want to eliminate, and a trap doesn't discriminate between a lizard and a kitten.....

Or if another animal eats the poisoned lizards.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have a trap out there for them right now. Even when I catch one I need to kill it and some of these big boys are 4+ feet long and fast! Sharp teeth too so I won’t be handling them.

Poison is problematic, I have a dog that eats anything she can find.

To give you an idea of what I’m up against.

Holy crap! I was thinking gecko sized. That looks more like something from a scifi flick. I'd be using .22 Short Rifle rounds. They're subsonic, so you don't get that sharp report like you get from Long Rifle or Magnum rounds.
