The image of pop singers (with music by The Blanks)
So if you watch Scrubs, you know that Ted has an A Capella group called the Worthless Peons. They're actually Ted's quartet band in real life, but they're actually called The Blanks.

And they have this awesome video on youtube:

Now, I literally hate every single song they sang when sang by the original artist. But in this video I love the songs. So I'm inclined to believe that the reason I hate pop songs isn't because it's "generic lyrics set to simple beat loops" as I previously thought. But rather, I hate pop songs because the singers always take on this self-righteous, "look how cool I am" image to sell their songs.

When four balding dudes having fun with a camera sing the songs, they're great. When some teenager wearing diamond studded jewelry sings them to a backdrop of women dancing on sports cars, I hate them. Sun glasses indoors and "I get all the ladies" faces. Why do all pop artists seem to adopt that attitude? Why don't they just have fun and sing songs for the sake of singing songs? Must I listen to them give advice on politics and the economy on random tv shows? Does a big head come with the money?

"Ain't got no last words to say, yellow streak right up my spine. The gun in my mouth was real and the taste blew my mind."

"We see you cry. We turn your head. Then we slap your face. We see you try. We see you fail. Some things never change."

RE: The image of pop singers (with music by The Blanks)
I don't know. When I'm at the gym or in town shopping I tend to hear pop music without seeing the singers themselves. I don't even know what they look like, but the repetitiveness of the lyrics and music, and the fact that the songs don't go anywhere musically, really irritate me. A few minutes of listening to pop music can really bring out the angry monster in me.

I do like the worthless peons though!
