Had he not been such an amazing musician, perhaps that's what career he'd have had. Big Grin

That doesn't surprise me at all. He had a pretty rough childhood. I think I read that his first gigs were in whore houses and I'm not sure if they even paid him. It's been a while since I read a book about him. He was as tough as nails though and damn, he sure could play that horn!

Yeah, well for a time the great Count Basie drummer, Papa Jo Jones lived in a whorehouse. Big Grin

Those were the days. No wonder he was always smiling. Wink

RE: The jazz, International and traditional & classical musics thread.
When my mom moved down to the US from Canada she moved to Detroit and most of the big bands played there. When she was a girl she loved to go out dancing to some of the Big Band's and she saw all the great ones. She saw Artie Shaw and Benny Goodman and really loved this.

She went and saw Spike Jones one time. Said the musicians were fabulous......crazy but fabulous. Tongue

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

For some reason the percussion track is higher in this version of the classic Brasilian recording. Tribalistas.
