The label and does it matter?
How badly does the distinction really matter?

RE: The label and does it matter?
The label does matter in a world where policy, laws and regulations are often guided by those who are delusional in their thinking.
Neil deGrasse Tyson understands what it means to be labeled as an atheist and that's why he doesn't want to be labeled as an atheist.
He knows he is an atheist, but just doesn't want the title. He doesn't want the hassle that comes along with it.
It's easier to simply say "You don't know". It gives other people the impression that you haven't taken a side, that you are neutral.

But that's not the case. The very first video is correct. All agnostics are atheists, even if they don't know it.

the first video: I understand his frustration, but his delivery leaves much to be desired.

RE: The label and does it matter?
It matters in an intellectual sense. (FWIW, I disagree that agnostics are atheists.)

I'm not sure if you consider yourself agnostic or not, but if you do: which god(s) do you believe in?

Theism is a binary state. You either believe in one or more gods, or you don't. If you don't, you're atheist. You can further divide atheism into groups that lack belief in gods and groups that make the negative claim that no gods exist, but they're both still atheist.

Exactly.. they want to stand aside from the Atheist&Theistic groups and say "hey you both suck!" though i won't call them atheists as they'll never "confirm" on what they actually think about religions.

Maybe for solidarity but not much else.

RE: The label and does it matter?
By the way, the notion that atheism and agnosticism are somehow mutually exclusive is false.
