The more people suffer the more they believe
It's not news that most poor and fucked up countries in the world are also most religious ones. Why do people like believing in all powerful not giving a shit god when they live in shitholes? Doesn't that like tells something about the god?
Because the people who have happy could at least thank god for good stuff.
Seems strange to me.

What do they hope for? Nice afterlife? Or that god will come down and take care of business?
Cause both propositions seem to be extremely bizarre in the real world.

I would say that people pray for whatever they can get, sometimes that is the ability to allow them to accept whatever happens as god's will.

So basically something good happens "Praise the lord!" something bad happens "I deserve it"
Sounds a lot like sadomasochism and slavery Big Grin

But where does this desire come from? Why do people prefer misery to be a product of a designer and not chance? Humans like getting punished?

The more needy people are when there seems to be nothing else to satisfy the need, the more likely it probably is for god to fill the role. It gives them hope where there otherwise seems to be none.

When you are dirty, hungry, sick and have zero outlook for a better life ahead of you....I guess delusion is the life ring to a better tomorrow...after you die of course...allegedly. Confused
