I just have 'em pulled. Missing 2 molars now but only cost me $25/tooth. 'Course I'm 51 so it amounts to a cost-benefit analysis.

Aw, lucky. I wish my dental was cheap. I just found out I have gingivitis, which can lead to early Pero. As well as other issues that can lead to losing teeth and bone mass.
Needless to say this summer I'm gonna be straddlin' poor and broke every day.

RE: The most amount of pain you have felt.
I had about a foot of my large intestine removed after suffering from severe diverticulitis for five years. The doctor told me the outbreak was so severe that the colon had actually fuzed to my pelvic bone and he had to chisel it off the bone. The excruciating pain was before surgery (internally) and post surgery (staples on my abdomen). When I sneezed or coughed it was like a whole new level of blinding pain.

It's only cheap if I have them pulled. If I want to save them with a root canal and a crown it'll run me $3K. Insurance company ain't stupid. One less tooth they have to worry about causing other problems later they will have to cover. Same reason they'll pay for a vasectomy but won't pay for its reversal or IVF. Less babies they'll have to pay for.

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Ohhh, I see. Yeah, insurance don't cover shit for teeth.

(30-12-2013 05:54 PM)bemore Wrote:  This last week has been a grim reminder to me about pain. I had a molar extracted on Christmas eve which then turned into a dry socket.

The toothache that I had was nothing compared to the last couple of days. It wasn't a constant pain as I was treating it myself very carefully however when it did come it was something to "behold". I imagine because it is the nerves in my jaw that made it so painful but it felt like pure burning fire throbbing in lines from my jaw to my ear canal and skull. Everything from my personal medicine cabinet was thrown at it and hardly anything touched it other than Solpadol and paracetamol

It is the second most painful time of my life as the first time was when I was about 9-10. I was involved in a fight at school with another lad and he won by kicking me straight in the balls (fair play) The pain at the time was shattering, however when I woke up the next morning my right testicle was throbbing. Over the next few days my testicle slowly swelled up and became so painful that in the end I had to tell my parents. A doctors visit sent me on the way to hospital where I was told I had a twisted testicle and that to treat it they needed to slice me open and untwist it. The pain then was horrendous to the point me breathing would change the pain. I was glad to get to hospital lol.

So what is the most amount of pain people have felt in their lifes which they wanna share?

Worst pain I felt in my life eh?

5, 6 or 7 years ago, (I am bad with time, okay?!), I experienced that worst pain that I can remember to date: In an attempt to get out of a chair as fast as possible 'cause I had food that just finished cooking, I pushed up with my left arm and twisted it; once I had unwittingly twisted my arm (while using it to support my bodyweight from springing up from the chair) I heard a snap. A loud crcking sound in my arm and it just plain game way, followed by a sharp start of pain, absolutely excruciating, debilitating, screaming pain.
Doctors like the gauge pain with a 1-10 system, 1 being "meh" and 10 being "Please lord kill me!!"; for an hour I was at a solid 15 on that scale. When the paramedics finally got to my house I was down to a solid 10, then they game me a neat little Penthrox whistle and down to 9.

One month later I would find that I had managed to snap a bit of the lower left tip of my humerus using my own tendons, an avulsion fracture. My arm was so swollen that the doctors and specialists at the hospital could not see the fracture for three weeks until it went down, three weeks of constantly being around an 8-9 on that scale, if I moved it maybe 10.8 if lucky.
And that is not to mention the years of constant re-fracturing and pain. Thing is, I still have problems with me arm, to this very day...

Holy heck these are horror stories.

In order of pain level: 1 -meh to 10-just kill me

Spinal headache due to spinal tap - 9
Gall bladder attacks varied from 4 to 8 of course ending at 8 when they finally figured out what was causing the pain.
Post gall bladder surgery was a 6 - doc also didn't believe in pain meds. Arse.
Cauterized blood vessel in nose... 10. I just couldn't ignore pain like that in my face. My eyes watered for three days.
Dry socket post wisdom teeth removal 7? It's hard to remember.

Tie for worst? Kidney infection or miscarriage. My ob never explained that due to how far along I was it would be an actual labor with contractions. I thought I was hemorrhaging. They said it'll be like a bad period. Bull. That was hellish.

RE: The most amount of pain you have felt.
For me the emtional pain is the worst because it fades but never goes away. At anytime anything can trigger it and make you feel that intensity all over again.

My pain is from losing my family. 3 of them 3 years apart from each other. They say it comes in 3s. I loved my mom and my sister so much but the loss of them both is so different individually. The loss of a sister, the closet friend you will ever have in life. The one who know things your mom and dad dont ,leaving your life ,leaving you scared you may end up in as much physical pain she was in but yet all alone with noone like yourself to help you through it.

I think more about my mom because well she was my mom. I mean how do you describe the pain of losing your mom, ma , Nonna. I saw her die in the worst pain in her life screaming for me to do something. I will never forget it, its haunting and crippling, Its forever

I literally have nothing anywhere remotely close to anything mentioned so far. It's a good thing too; I have a really low pain tolerance.

the dentists says i also need a root canal treatment or shits. And i don't want to live with a big hole in my mouth. My gums are too sensitive to do that

I don't really like going outside.
It's too damn "peopley" out there....
