Well, the ignorant bit really can be helped though, can't it? Internet is not just for porn or FB.

Yeah, I get that you were kidding, but this is a major trigger for me (the race thing, not the joking obvs. Tongue ), so I kinda lose 90% of my sense of humour.

I figured as much, and thought a good dose of self deprecating humor would do some good. It appears to have worked! Big Grin

Gotta love tribal mentality.

I believe it depends on what bullshit from the pope your reading, (oops, I mean "papal bull"), and which side of the line yer on. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_of_Demarcation

That's just off the top of my head.
There is a huge difference between race and ethnicity (esp. ethnicity as defined by some idiotic, half-assed American classification).

EDIT: Actually, scratch that. Middle Eastern is the dumbest "term". Do you have any idea how inaccurate and innately eurocentric it its? Do you have any idea how many "ethnic" groups it comprises?

How about Indians? They most certainly must be a separate race, right?
Depends who you talk to and in what context. According to UK equality law Race is a term that encompasses nationality, ethnicity, origin and colour.

Race is a term that gets confused a lot and if you are speaking purely biologically then I'd like to see the official classification on it, because I can't find one.

There is only biological race. Everything else is arbitrary, made-up balderdash. I am not confusing anything.

Biological race is mostly arbitrary, made-up balderdash also Smile

Give me your argument in the form of a published paper, and then we can start to talk.

RE: The pope quit.
With this Pope stuff... Drinking Beverage

I don't understand how any Catholic can feel that they are getting a good deal on a Pope after the corrupt ones previously chosen... No one ever brings up the Borgias family when they are talking about the cardinals making good decisions based on what God tells them to do.

The fact that the cardinals VOTE really raises some red flags about the mixed messages they are getting from God. Are they not at all fucking concerned with the seriousness of their ridiculousness? Like, why would God tell them to vote for different people? Why not have them all sit down and have one guy say, "Okay, God told me that so-and-so should be Pope. I'm assuming he told you all the same, so let's go ahead and get this shit rolling."

Evil_monster

Just a little vent here... I've been reading a lot of theists talking about how important it is that the cardinals find a new Pope soon, as if it has made any real difference in their life to begin with.
