Yeah, but can you refrain from calling young women honey or sugar? (Not that I think you should, mind you. But if you really want to pass as non-Texan ..)

An English/northern English thing to say is "love", like "Thanks love". My accent used to be a bit "common" but over the years I've improved my dialect to an almost BBC standard...yet I often say "ooh cheers love" instead of thank you lol.

I feel like I'd prefer "love" over "honey" or "sugar"... but in all cases, if it's coming from a dude, it feels dirty and uncomfortable.

I prefer to be called by my first name or nothing at all. Unless it's a boyfriend, of course, then I love when he calls me Sweetie etc.

RE: The selfie thread
It's a strange one. Here it's mostly women who would say sugar, (or "Shug"), and only ever really say it to other girls, just as a term of endearment. I say "love" as it's a northern thing, and is the equivalent of making another noise when talking in these parts. For example, if I said "cheers babe", then I'd be out of order and in line for a slap, but "love" is fine lol.

I call my wife "dear", like "yes dear" lol, but that's about it, I tend not to do pet names or anything.
