The solution to the Gay Marriage debate: Lesbians
Hello,

So, there is a big debate going on in the USA over whether or not to allow same-sex marriage.
The arguments for include: Love, great for the economy and let them be as miserable as the rest of us.

The arguments against are mostly conservative and biblical in nature.
For instance Leviticus 20:13
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

However, it says nothing about women lying with women.
So, by that definition: lesbianmarriage is nothing to be opposed.
So that can be legalised.
And then the men can sue for equal rights.

I believe there are also passages about soldiers taking in women as slaves and marrying them (not sure there though).
Now I'm not saying the women deployed in Afghanistan should be 'taking slaves' home to the US and then marrying them, but there's probably something usefull in there.

Serious view:Pure semantics, this won't convince anybody.

Joking view: Yay! The debate is over.

The point of the Bible is that it's a means to interpret/twist anything that you want out of it, and claim supernatural authority. "The way "I" interpret it is ... "

The "legality" of lesbians has nothing in particular to do with the definition of marriage.

For that matter, the passage in Leviticus does not prohibit fellatio. So two guys could get married, but stay away from the back door and just go down?

Biblical prohibitions need to be understood in their historical context not examined for loopholes. That is, as an aficionado of ancient literature who wants to understand what the ancient writers were really getting at.

As a real guide to behavior, just forget it.

Nonsense is nonsense, but the history of nonsense is a very important science.

Women can perform fellatio as well...

What has that to do with "gay marriage"? Tongue

If this is your serious and only solution, go back to promoting Geico then.

Leviticus does not justify stupidity, but it is more than enough to define corruption of the human mind.

Never mind.

Fellatio is better.

RE: The solution to the Gay Marriage debate: Lesbians
Considering the bible is a rule book for those that believe in it and that there is a clear separation between state and religion (or at least supposed to be) and that marriage is not a religious act but merely an act that religion has adopted, I would say that the argument for "the bible says this" is completely redundant.

I don't talk gay, I don't walk gay, it's like people don't even know I'm gay unless I'm blowing them.
