I don't have a better solution, there may not even be one.

I think when it comes to systems of Government, being asked which one is preferable is like being asked if you want your legs amputated at the knees, half way up your thighs, or somewhere in between. All the options fucking suck but one is the lesser of a group of chronic evils.

If it was possible, my preferred system would be a benevolent dictatorship. I don't think that's achievable though.

Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Democracy is not fundamentally flawed, it is the election systems that are flawed.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

In a weird twist of irony, Murika's free speech prevents anything like this from happening even though if it was going to happen anywhere you would think it would be here.

It still blows my mind that the UK is doing this.

I disagree, if the bat-shit insane neighbor down the street who dances around his TV set every night to ward off evil spirits out of his colon has an equal voice with the rest of us, you know something is a little fucked up.

This is what happens when voters make uneducated decisions.

Democracy is shit when voters do not spend the time to study who they are voting for, which seems to be in most places.

That's debatable since the winning party only got 10,726,614 out of the total of 29,691,380.

So the system we have isn't representative of the views of the majority of the country as the majority of the votes, (18,964,766) went to >20 other parties.

...So an alternative would be something like Proportional representation where the number of seats is proportional to the number of votes received.

The current system is skewed in favour of the 2 largest parties (labour and the Tories). If the number of seats were proportional to the number of votes they would still be the biggest but not as big as under the current system, they would have to be far more careful about what they promise and don't deliver as there is a far greater chance that one of the smaller parties will take their seats also meaning they are less likely to pull shit like this as it will actually cost them big during the election.
