Theist v Atheist
Hey everyone
So I have to write an essay, and I wanted some help.
I simply want some advice on books that will help me with my essay topic.
I want to compare the differences between an atheists description of afterlife , and a theists description. So I was looking for some academics who have published books that are well known, that are about afterlife, religion, and basically books that go completely against religion & try to disregard all the mythology.
Im an atheist myself & completely support this forum.
Your help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Naz

There is a book called "The Atheist Afterlife." I haven't read it, and can't endorse whatever it says. You can get it from Amazon.

Speaking for myself, I don't find any evidence for an afterlife. If there is one... cool, I guess. I hope it has free WiFi.

I AM he who is called... cat furniture.

atheistic view of the afterlife seems like an oxymoron to me......

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

technically, you can be an atheist and believe in afterlives, ghosts, demons, alien abductions, illuminati, and all other crap,as long as you dont believe in god.
But most(all?) dont, because we became an atheist because we are rational people

I don't really like going outside.
It's too damn "peopley" out there....

Just put 'Afterlife' in the search.

You will find around a dozen threads on the subject.

A few of the posts have links to reference sources... I'll let you do the hard yards.

RE: Theist v Atheist
"The Illusion of Immortality" by Corliss Lamont is an excellent choice of a reference from an atheist perspective. Originally published in 1932 it can be considered a classic. It very much avoids the anti theist rhetoric that can color much current atheist literature.
