If a theocratic government took over, would you be willing to take up arms against it?

I realize there are about ten million degrees of "theocracy," so I'm just going to generally say a government that proclaims Christianity as the law of the land and began tailoring laws to fit a fundamentalist definition of that (because, y'know, it's a little hard to imagine, say, First Congregationalists taking over....)

Theocratic government takes over and starts tailoring laws favouring fundies to the detriment of the people with thinky-thinky bits?

I'm off to the nearest nation which is highly secular and speaks English commonly to some degree.

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.

They say you can find the mythical Black swan there in Staylia, near the island of Rotorua.

OK, Cat, meet pidgeons; pidgeons....cat....

I've already faced this question when my wife and I decided to leave the USA to relocate back to the UK. As much as I know that many rational Americans would rail against such a judgement, we felt strongly that the USA has become a theocracy. After all, it takes a groundswell of popular support for a theocracy to take hold.

There, I said it. Big Grin

You're in Taliban controlled Afghanistan? I had no idea.

Ohmy

I can't help thinking that black dress you're wearing would look a little sexier if you took it in at the waist. But be careful not to reveal too much eyelash.

Dodgy

Didn't have to add a waist belt to make it sexy, my little black dress was plenty tight and short when I went out with a Persian (his descriptor) hottie the other night (was wrong on him being Indian...oops.). But I was wearing tights, so "technically" I was only revealing my neck and hands...until they were crumpled on the floor Angel Unfortunately, he did turn out to be Muslim - he will make do for the occasional casual hookup, which is all I want right now, anyway. (Thank Allah for my sexual liberation through atheism)

But yeh, it wasn't legal to purchase alcohol in my county until 11 years ago. No alcohol sales on Sundays in reverence to Our Lord JC. Rolleyes We have two liquor stores, and you can now purchase wine and beer at Walmart. Some counties in the area are still dry.

If someone tried to impose restrictions where I had to wear a niqab or burka, be escorted by a male family member etc yes, that'd be enough for me to take a physical stand. Although, hijabs can be kinda pretty.

TBH, I don't understand why the men would want all the ladies covered. What fun is summer if everyone isn't half naked?

pro tip: If you see a black swan, blow it's fucking head off with a shotgun!!

Fuck those birds!

Yeah....but it's an openly hypocritical theocracy.

Theocracy Lite....just one calorie....not theocratic enough...
