Maybe the next time she does this to her pediatrician, teacher or a police officer. Especially with the latter, who knows how some of those loose cannons will react to a disrespectful tone.

Why do you assume this kid would also speak like this in inappropriate situations? Clearly she was annoyed with this boy and clearly she had reason to be.

@DonaldTrump, Patriotism is not honoring your flag no matter what your country/leader does. It's doing whatever it takes to make your country the best it can be as long as its not violent.

It would have been better if she would have shown up in her PJ's with a teddy bear and asked him to be quiet since it was past her bed time and his noise was keeping her up. That would have been funny.

Except context matters. That's why this wasn't "bad behavior".

Yelling shut up at someone saying something you do not agree with is not appropriate behavior. He was annoying, but not a threat and he was not trying to work up the crowd to riot or anything. Being annoyed is not justification.

Bad behavior does not justify bad behavior. That is a very childish stance to say it was ok because he was behaving badly too.

She didn't shut him up. She promoted the street preacher's message and drew attention to him.

I wouldn't think atheists would be celebrating this.

The only thing I heard was "shut up" with some other "blah blah blah" in the background.

Hitting someone out of the blue is bad behavior.
Hitting someone in self defense is not bad behavior.
Both are hitting someone.
Context matters.
This was not bad behavior.

I disagree. Yelling shut up is bad behavior, finding a reasonable way to get them to be quite or move along would be good behavior. He was not a threat, getting ugly was not justified. Rise above the poop, do not wallow in it.

She's a child. Children don't have the rights to the same autonomy as adults. They have the same protections under the law to keep them safe and not to be exploited, but they do not have the full fledged rights as a U.S. adult to do what they want when they want like a normal adult. My kids are all under 18, which means they have curfews plus I censor what they are allowed and not allowed to see on TV and the internet. I'm not going to lose sleep over "restricting" my children's freedoms because I'm not letting them consume porn, forcing them to have curfews or holding them to standards of behavior in public places.
