What the hell!! OUTRAGE!! This is now going to be pinned on us atheists, we do not care for anyone or anything, we ban everything, people can not even wear jewelry... Now, this is something that atheists groups like us should condemn and distance our selfs from this retarded politics, because this is going on our heads and we are not to blame. Idiots are to blame for this law.

"My fellow atheists,
we should all stand together and protect Christian freedom to wear whatever they like and want around their neck, because to limit their freedom is to limit our freedom as well. Next thing you know, we will not be able to wear cool atheist t-shirts with insults to all other religions... "

Nature will be rebranded as a porn magazine once the new world order takes over - after all we won't need the silly front of science once we're in charge, carrying out the devil's plan. So you don't need to worry about the smart stuff Tongue

They don't mention any occasions where anyone was asked to hide or remove any other type of necklace. Will be interesting to see how this plays out and how far it goes.

They don't mention any occasions of other people being asked to hide or remove jewelry because that wouldn't be very interesting news. It would be outright mundane. This should also be mundane, but drummed up interest and scandal tells us we should be outraged.

1) They can easily cover a cross on a necklace whereas it's impossible to wear a head-scarf under other uniform

2) It's not a requirement of Christianity to even where a cross, let alone have one on show.

This and this.

Wearing a cross is simply an expression of religion or trivial decoration but it is not a requirement of faith in the slightest. Other expressions of faith might be preaching, open prayer, profession of your faith to others, talking about faith-related events/issues. All of these things can be disallowed by private employers- at least in the US, don't know about the UK.

I find it strange though. I mean I have seen people do company dress code stuff - but not at my workplace. I did find that I smartened the fuck up naturally when I started work though - no more student dressing Tongue I just find it strange that something as unobtrusive as a cross (the one shown in the picture of the article) is this big of a deal. It's not like it makes the company look bad, it looks smart, even if you combine it with some kind of company dress code.

RE: This is gonna cause some fighting...
I don't have a problem with people wearing crosses or other jewelry, but if it's the company policy then it's policy, exceptions are made for religious requirements only and this was not a requirement- so no exception. When I encounter someone at work I really couldn't care less if they are wearing a cross- even if it's a ridiculous large cross. Even if it were against company policy here, I probably wouldn't say anything. But a boss has to enforce the rules equally, and I think they were right to do so.

I have a suggestion.

I suggest that those who wish to fight against this wear large clocks around their necks.

Eventually (if enough partake) people will start to notice these absurdly large clocks and then they might actually do something.......or it could fail horribly. Either way I have entertainment.
