RE: Threatening an atheist with hell is like ...
On the one hand it's laughable and we can all laugh about the meaninglessness of such threats by theists, but the fact that they make those threats in the first place is of concern.

I know! I know! When they've got no reasoned rebuttals then they're in a corner and have nowhere to go, but the fact is that they continually resort to threats.

And a threat is a threat, no matter how laughable it is. If I had a friend who tried this with me I'd ask him why on earth he resorted to such tactics. And then maybe ask him to look at himself in the mirror and how he'd feel about someone making threats to him or his family members.

The invisible and the non-existent look very much alike

I've had relatives tell me that the best way to find out if there is a Hell is to go look. They've offered to help me with that.

But never twice. I used to teach violence in the Navy.

It's like threatening to stab him with a unicorn horn. That's going to be my response from now on. Thanks for helping me to think of it.

Threatening an atheist with hell is like...telling somebody that they are going to be unborn (it just doesn't make sense).

PS sorry about your friend.

I prefer fantasy, but I have to live in reality.

Why not, they are already proud of having been reborn!

Maybe it can mean something to Christians, but have no significance to anybody else. Tongue

It's like telling me you're going to put a curse on my junk.

Check out my now-defunct atheism blog. It's just a blog, no ads, no revenue, no gods.

It's like threatening a gorilla with a flyswatter.

Excuse me, but there are several documentaries that prove that Tokyo is in constant threat of monster attacks. You can deny it all you like, but giant radioactive moths do exist. They lacked the technology to fake it back then. What are you going to say next, that the moon landings were faked as well?
