Ticketing Woes.
Melbourne has had the Myki smart card ticketing system for a few years now and it seems to be getting even messier.
These cards hold up to round $200 and when swiped supposedly deduct the appropriate fair. The system is currently being extended to rural areas.
Tickets can be topped up via machines which sometimes take the cash but don't add the money, some shops and on line. There have been problems in all options.
As for country trips, What a mess! A few weeks back it was seniors week with free travel for the over 60s. Public Transport told me I could take a trip to the country for $28 and to just swipe my card. The country validator hadn't been told so I lost my dough.
Sometimes too, the swiping procedures don't work and there is an on the spot fine of round $ 100 for so called swipe violators. The Nazi inspectors are quick to pounce.
So much for smart technology, Oz style.

Haha, totally thought this said, "Ticketing whores" when I read it at first.

I prefer fantasy, but I have to live in reality.

An excellent question.

Could we perchance get an order of casual coffee in the house?

The system is said to be geared to smart technology based on scientific endeavour.
Hardly music or movies!
