Tim's Netflix recommendations (must see movies)
I'm going to list movies from my queue and history that I feel are absolute must watch movies. There are a bunch so I won't comment on each of them but y'all feel free to throw in some suggestions or comments.

Valkyrie
Very entertaining movie. Not historically accurate at all but def worth watching.

A Beautiful Mind
Do I really need to explain why?

Meet Joe Black
Powerful movie about life and death. Great acting!

American Beauty
Cult classic status.

Changeling
Somewhat creepy and throws you for a few loops.

Coraline
Cartoon about a girl who finds a 'rabbit hole' into a world where her life is the same but perfect. But things turn out to be not so perfect in a perfect world. Great kids flick that adults will enjoy too. Like Shrek or Finding Nemo.

Cold Mountain
Just watch it.

House of Sand and Fog
Excellent performances by Jennifer Connely and Ben Kingsley. 5 stars.

Black Swan
Might end up being the best movie of this decade.

What Dreams May Come
Cuz it's awesome and it reinforces disbelief.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Fantastic acting and all around great story. Brad Pitt is born an 80 year old infant and becomes younger as time passes.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence
I'm a sucker for a well acted role. Great performance by Osment.

Bicentennial Man
Another robot sci-fi. It's Robin Williams.

I Love You Phillip Morris
A little homo. OK a lot homo. But still a good movie.

You Don't Know Jack
Forget everything you ever thought you knew about Jack Kavorkian.

White Oleander
Yep, incredible performances all around. Great casting as well.

The Time Travelers Wife
How much would you put up with to be with the one you love?

The Notebook
A little melodramatic but a great movie anyway.

Inception
You've probably seen it already.

Almost Famous
The best movie about music ever made. Nothing else even comes close.

Rockstar
Except for this movie of course. Another awesome music movie.

The Blind Side
I almost cried. SRS!

Seven Pounds
Don't watch this and then tell me you don't want a box jellyfish as a pet.

Crazy/Beautiful
Remember what it was like to be a teenager?

Schindler's List
Makes you rage and cry at the same time. A very emotional movie that's hard for me to watch. I have an unusual sensitivity towards the Holocaust and WWII. Not sure why.

Hard Candy
Ellen Page fuckin rocked. KILLER peformance.

Simon Birch
Cuz it makes you feel good.

The Pianist
Another Jew killing movie. This time in Poland. Worth watching 10 times.

I only like 5 of those and I've seen them all minus You Don't Know Jack. That means I have better taste than you and you should apply to join my newly formed school of Better Taste In Movies. That's what that means. Couldn't mean anything else. Especially not that you have different taste than I do, which doesn't necessarily mean that it's worse.... Nope.

Agreed. GT, you sure like a lot of chick flicks.

RE: Tim's Netflix recommendations (must see movies)
I like all kinds of moives. Those are just the ones that were recently shipped to me.
I have coming soon:

Cadillac Man

Human Centipede 2

Hotel Rwanda

A Time to Kill

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Delores Claiborne

And like 80 more movies.
And none of those are chick flicks. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a fucking chick flick. Spanglish is a chick flick. Hairspray is a chick flick. Romanticism is not exclusive to chick flicks.
Keep in mind too that I've seen so many movies. I tend to only put ones I haven't seen in my queue. Example, you won't find Tombstone or Pulp Fiction in my queue because I have seen them both before.

Actually I happen to own those two.

I like to think of myself as a pretty open minded, secure, sensitive guy. But man, chick flicks really make me want to choke a puppy.

Slowly.

While I look into it's eyes.

Just visiting.

I'm not a fan of chick flicks either and I avoid them whenever I can. But I don't "choke a puppy" hate them. Undecided

This is an awesome movie. Except for Ghost I haven't seen the others. And of them I've only heard of Casablanca. Don't hate just becasue I'm eclectic when it comes to film.

I detest chick flicks - and I'm a chick. Undecided
The only traditional chick flicks I might endure would have to also star John Cusack otherwise, they are just not worth watching.

I could not stand Sleepless In Seattle - what a load of crap.
And that other one... You've Got Mail ... completely sucked big ones. I stopped watching movies with Meg Ryan after that one ... I lost confidence in her judgement to choose competent roles. The last decent movie she made was Addicted to Love with Matthew Broderick -and it had Tchéky Karyo playing her ex-boyfriend so that's probably the reason I watched it.

I don't know if I would call Amelie a chick flick -it's much more complex than the average chick flick formula. I love anything by director Jean-Pierre Jeunet.

Casablanca - I fail to see how that is a chick flick... unless, per the chick flick formula, Bogart is the chick... I can see that... but then again - much more complex.

I loved Meet Joe Black ... cracked me up.

I guess my personal chick flick list today might be:

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind ... yea, that was good.
Michael Clayton ... wow...
A Life Less Ordinary ... ha
Crying Game ... kind of a standby in my library
Mystery Train ... yep, another standby
Strange Days ... third standby ...
The Constant Gardener ... fuck ... some serious shit
The Good Thief ... with Nick Nolte
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead ... funny as hell
Crime Spree ... with Gérard Depardieu and Harvey Keitel ...
Victor/Victoria ... yes, a musical with Julie Andrews -I promise you'll love it.
Jesus' Son ... just for ... uh... fun, sort of, I guess

If you haven't seen it yet, check out a movie called Sliding Doors... a quite good, early Gwyneth flick. Something to discuss with HoC. Smile

I think all the ones I've mentioned here are english speaking films, except Amelie.

So, I'll be getting Hotel Rwanda and Wedding Daze in the mail today. Which should I watch first?
