Yeah, right... Tongue

There are no no atheists in Congress, as opposed to previous 2 years. Furthermore, the Republicans have just re-gained a majority in the House. Even when Democrats were in the majority, they could barely get liberal reforms through, a good lot of them being centrist democrats.

A recent AP poll finds that only 9 % of Americans would describe themselves as very liberal, as opposed to about 15-20 % calling themselves very conservative.

Have we made progress? Sure... But I believe as the hype of the Obama administration has died that it has become clear that a change in the head of state does not mean an institutional or an organizational change. I have/had a lot of respect for Obama, and election was a triumph and all, but it has also brought forward the usual racist/religious criticisms that still linger among the psyche of the American people.

Obama may reflect in a change of tone/perception, but the day to day workings of US foreign policy (including the possibly criminal elements) remain unchanged. The Bush apparatus is still in place, it is just no longer the subject of controversy given more pressing domestic matters. Obama is not a socialist. He may have been liberal in the campaign, but his execution so far has been centrist and tempered, and in many cases, overtly capitalistic. I can't necessarily blame him for that. Again, he has to work within a framework that cannot merely be changed at the whim of an election.

Having said that, I personally believe nationalism is a stupid concept and that nations should be treated as nothing more than administrative structures created the make it easier to govern the human population, no different than American states or provinces.

America is a great place to live. It may not be the best, but it is pretty decent, and I like it here. I hate a lot of Americans. I believe the system kind of sucks. But that has nothing to do with the people I hate being "American." I love a lot of Americans as well. I dislike the system because of its idealogical principles and not its arbitrary geographical location.

That does actually pretty much sum it up. America has its positives such as the fact that we are ranked number seven on the latest quality of life index. That is really good. We were not even in the top twenty when Bush was destroying our country. Again in my opionion all of the industrialized countries are good places to live. I think that the North East region of our country is were we shine since that region is the most liberal and where the best educated states reside. California is a great state too. Some states however such as the South East and Texas have a longer way to go as they are generally more conservative and religious. I don't want to insult anyone that lives in those states but you have to admit there is some truth to it.

Funny enough, but too wise. :F

Just to name a few:
A dick in one's forehead = one is pissed.
A bubble in one's forehead = one has been holding the urine inside for a long time.
Urinating to one's eye = lieing to someone.
Having sexual intercourse with a comma = being a grammar nazi.
Tearing one's ass apart = one is very very pissed.
Pulling your ass on your shoulder = getting very very drunk.

National feeling is one of those useless things like religion that divide people into ''us'' and ''them''. Right now I can't come up with other major dividing things than religion, nationalism, racism and politics(in some scale).

I was on thethinkingatheist youtube page and Kikko, he is Hikko on youtube, posted a comment talking down about Americans. First off Kikko if you want to insult me say it to my face. You have lost all credibility. Everyone don't read his post the guy is immature, he discriminates, and is poorly educated because intelligent people don't make assumptions about an entire group of people. He makes us atheist look bad. Again Kikko grow up and man up. Say it to my face if you hate Americans because buddy I don't care for you either.

This is to everyone from other countries: I respect you all and your countries. I love other countries. I love talking to and making friends with people from other cultures. I have friends here on campus from Europe, Chile, and Canada. Please understand that we americans are not all the same. I am an atheist. I am a liberal. I think people from other countries are equals. I even defend other countries when people talk them down.

All in all, please understand what I am trying to say. I am tired of hearing that all Americans this and all Americans that in the general media. Again I respect you all and your countries. We are all equals. I even prefer women from other countries. Something sexy about that lol (just wanting to lighten the mood).

guys break it up!

Posts #1 #23 #26 and #27 sort of explain the whole mess. There's no need to start getting the masses together to burn embassys and assault people.
