Does this mean we're not going to be friends anymore?

You know, Grasshopper, if I thought you weren't my friend, I just don't think I could bear it.

Try not to drown in your tears.

Laugh out load

However, you must not have any real arguments against socialism if you have to resort to comparing socialists to Stalin. It kind of "Godwins" the thread, you know?

I made plenty of arguments against socialism throughout this thread. Even among the constant harangue of red herrings.

Have a great evening. Supper is on.

You have defended your position by relying almost exclusively on false comparisons, reduction to the absurd, red herring yourself and maybe an enthymeme regarding ownership laws (for that last one I am not certain though).

Freedom is servitude to justice and intellectual honesty.

Beyond it overstepping the prescribed limits outlined in the COTUS and BOR...as has been done with the 16th Amendment and the slippery slope it opened to make this all possible. The "shoehorn", if you will...
I would consider the changes to be an unethical extension that not only violates the 13th Amendment's involuntary servitude, violates the 14th Amendment(equal protection) due to it's existence as a progressive tax, but also contradicts the very rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness of the individual citizen it was designed to protect.

Wedging something into an Amendment does not automatically exempt it from being unconstitutional.

A universal health care amendment could be easily worded so that it did automatically exempt itself from being unconstitutional. Something like "Congress shall have the power to make laws implementing UHC and no other provisions of the constitution shall be construed so as to contradict this amendment" (Ugh that was brutal... how James Madison would have worded it his head was run over by a wagon...but something like that). Not that it would even be needed...like you said the 16th amendment sails along without being overturned by the SC despite the 14th amendment (to the extent it violates the 14th amendment; has the 16th ever been challenged on an "equal protection" basis? Interesting).

But that said, I think we agree this could still be called "ethical" or "unethical" by one's own preference and not be hampered by what's strictly legal. There's been plenty of ethically shitty laws, that's for sure. Personally I think the US needs something like UHC but I don't know the route to get there and don't have enough knowledge of economics to understand all the implications. It's like I know I don't like the way things are now with regard to the health care system, but wouldn't be confident things wouldn't be screwed up worse with whatever our genius leaders come up with.

If she were a 300 pound woman with greasy hair and a giant wart on her nose, no one would give two shits about her or her opinions.

Pose in a revealing outfit with a gun (even better if you hold a bible in the other hand), spew some hatred toward (liberals, feminists, Muslims...fill in the blank) and boom, you've got a loyal following.

It's like a god-damned formula for the right wing at this point.

That works for an all-too-large segment of the population, unfortunately. If I meet people like that, I just move on. It's why I don't generally engage with xtians, here or elsewhere. It is actually painful to me to see that kind of wilful stupidity or arrogance. It's such a waste of a rational, empathetic human being.

To me it also seems that many of these people that support decimating programs to help the poor think that one day they'll be super rich and it'll burden them. They fight taxes on large estates, any social program you can think of and they want obeisance to corporate tax breaks and lifting restrictions on them both of a financial and environmental kind. They lack a clear view of self interest.
