"Why so many" relative to what? In the set of positive integers 56 billion is next to nothing. Do you limit the number of friends you have? If you do it is likely because there is a maximum number of friends you can handle. God doesn't have this problem so there really isn't any reason for God to put a limit on the number of beings He creates for companionship.

Has for you my dear Heywood, on a purely theoretical discussion, I would totally agree with you. If there is an omnibenevolent god, there is no limit to the number of friends he may have. Since friendliness is considered good, an omnibenevolent being is has friendly you can imagine or even more.
