A baby was being circumcised in a hospital and the machine that was cauterizing the skin was electrical. There was a surge in the electricity and it burned the baby's penis completely off. It was horrible. The parents didn't know what to do with this baby and eventually got a call from a doctor who felt he had a solution.

Dr John Money was a psychologist specialising in sex changes.
He believed that it wasn't so much biology that determines whether we are male or female, but how we are raised.

This child, who was an identical twin, was raised totally female but not told he was born a male. At two he began the preliminary operation of having a vagina created. He was put in female clothes given female toys and encouraged to take on female "attributes". At 13 the boy, now called Brenda, was given estrogen to develop breasts. But it didn't seem to matter what how much female social conditioning "Brenda" was exposed to or the estrogen his body was given, he fought it, and always gravitated to masculine activities and mannerism. He was finally told what had happened, I can't remember at what age though.

This case interested several psychologists and scientists. It was the first time scientists thought that perhaps, just perhaps gender can't always be nurtured but that there might be something else contributing to gender besides hormones and genitals, that the brain might also involved in the process.

Here's a rather long transcript of a NOVA program that looks at this case and some of the scientists who studied it.

Thx for that.

I also have this opinion, it doesn't matter if it's choice or not. I have this same opinion about homo/hetero sexuality. Truly, I don't think it is "choice", I think you are what you feel you are BUT... so what if it's a choice? What difference does it make to anyone else if you choose your gender, your sex, your sexual preference?

None, in my book, your life, your choice. Do and be what makes you happy, as long as you are not physically hurting others by your actions, it's no ones business but your own.

Very true. Thumbsup

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

RE: Transgender Bathrooms?
You'd think that there'd be a law against sexual predators from using restrooms if this was such a big concern. But no, it's about people who are different. They can't stand the fact that people differ from their idea of what is the norm. Especially since they allowed same sex couples to get married. That was their last bastion of 'traditional values', so now they're going after transgender people. Once they are accepted, I suppose they'll move on to something else. So long as they can hold themselves morally above someone else.

If you think that (religious) conservatives are the only ones who dislike transgender people, you're severely misinformed. Believe it or not, a lot of the hate and discrimination aimed at transsexuals comes from other members of the LGBT community, gay and lesbian people in particular. There are also certain feminist groups that dislike male-to-female transsexuals and reject the idea of giving them the same rights as regular women. It was an eye-opening experience for me when I researched the subject many years ago and found out that there are people from all walks of life who don't like them. I count myself among those people, though I don't care to share my reasons for it with anyone else.

We get it, you hate people who are different than you.

Micropenis?

It's funny how the same people who so proudly complain about over-sensitivty are themselves overly sensitive and highly insecure.

I don't recall ever using the word "hate" to describe my feelings about transgender people or saying that I dislike them because they are different from me. Why are you lying, Genesis? Why aren't you responding to my post based on what I said?

Whatever, you're still a bigot. That is, you're intolerant of people who are different. Whatever your reasons are, they're not in any way rational.
