Tricky creator
The creator went out of his way to make it appear that life on earth evolved. Surely he doesn't expect us to stop looking for evidence of abiogenesis.

At work.

Indeed, you're quite correct. People are indeed hard at work trying to figure out the best exlanation for/to do with abiogenesis.

Of course Abiogenesis=/=Evolution as such.

Also.....which deity?

Very much cheers to all.

There are a lot of (bad) responses to this:
  • God works in mysterious ways.
  • God changed the evidence to test us.
  • Satan messed up the evidence to trick us (and God let him).
  • Actually, the flood stirred up the fossil layers and separated Pangaea.
  • Those are lies by liberal atheist "scientists" who want to kill God.
  • You just need more faith.

Yes, but within that paradigm, God create critical thinkers and so would no doubt expect them to look for sensible answers

There's actually a member on AF who went so far as to claim "Satan seeded all the pagan traditions absorbed by Christianity with Christian traditions" so doubters would have ammunition later on.

When people don't reside fully in reality, and indoctrinated to believe polytheism is monotheism *because miracles*, they can waive off logical incongruencies without much thought. To hammer, everything looks like a nail. To a Christian, everything looks like God/The Devil.

Re: Critical thinking, this is another place where compartmentalization is key. The Catholic Church has a long tradition of employing critical thinkers to disprove miracles in their search for miracles. Yet these thinkers presuppose miracles are possible, because the bible and because miracles.

“It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts.”
― Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes

RE: Tricky creator
This is a very strange thing indeed. For this I will use transitional fossils. Lets take something I dimetrodon for example. This is a synapsid but has mammal like traits. So when looking at said animal you can see that it has both. When a creationist sees it on the other hand it is only one. In this case this animal is only a reptile(even though synapsids aren't reptiles at all.) So it is when you point out these traits of both synapsids and reptiles that they end up saying, well animal a has the same thing as animal b and we both know they didn't evolve from each other. This of course is countered by the fact that animal a and b may have similar structures, but both are used in completely different ways and are different in they way they feel, whoever are synapsid here has mammal traits just like mammals do, same function and feel. This leads to the same design same designer. Not going into details on that BS but you should already know. Then the question comes up, why make animal fusions that make it look like evolution is real. Why not a catbug or a crocoduck? This will either make them think or they will say god made evolution on purpose to test faith. Thats when the question, then why argue against it if thats what your god wants and he made it look like evolution was real in the first place? This will either shut them up or they will go to god works in mysterious ways.

And he creates believers to write a holy book that says that God's Truth trumps man's wisdom, and to question it is folly.

Very tricky, indeed.
