So you take it out on any random person. Gotcha. You and Trump fit together like hand and glove.

Ironic how your response proves my point. I could leave it at that, but since you want precise examples, how about :

"Exactly what about him fills you with so much glee? A vague tax plan that promises you a bit extra cash? Fuck yeah, let's sell America down the river for that."

How is that intended to solicit a reasoned response or reply? Stop acting like a petulant child, and I will stop responding to you like you were a petulant child.

Actually you've made a fair point. But you're still a dick. And your qualified so-not-childish support for Trump IMO is gonna get you precisely as far as qualified support for any dictator wannabe. He will do what the fuck he likes, some people will benefit, most will lose. And America as a country will be thoroughly fucked.

As I say, I will not refuse to support policies just because of who Trump is when I support them. I can make the distinction between personal and policy, and the presidency is bigger than the person in the office. My honest advice to Democrats is to do the same thing. His tax proposals have aspects to them that Democrats should support (but so far are reflexively opposing). I'm fairly certain Trump will be able to get a $1 Trillion infrastructure spending bill through the congress, and the Dems should support that as well--but they will have to accept public-private partnerships for the plan in order to get it through a GOP congress.

I also think that you underestimate the checks and balances available to reel Trump in. We will be just fine and get through president Trump, and if he royally screws things up, he and the GOP will be swept out of office. Obama did not turn the US into a socialist paradise in 8 years like the far right wanted to claim would happen, and Trump will not turn the US into a fascistic dystopia in a few years.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't be concerned about his potential actions with regards to civil rights. He's already promoted violence at his rallies, for example. Is it at all surprising that people compare him to Hitler? I don't think so.

I think ... maybe not. if you're extremely lucky. But he's creating a climate in which it can become possible. I'm speaking from experience here. Jacob Zuma was elected president of South Africa, one of Africa's very few nations which has a justifiable claim to first world status, a few years ago and the assumption was that if he was a bad egg, he would be removed. He's proved extremely resilient, has weakened public institutions significantly, has single handedly wiped several billion off the SA stock exchange with his erratic policies, has wasted and provably stolen public money, and has created a culture of corruption which has split the ANC, the ruling party, right down the middle into greedy people who're only in it for themselves and reformers who are ineffectual but who provide the necessary veneer of respectability that lets the greedy ones continue feeding at the trough. One of the key ways in which he achieved the things that he's done is by abusing his ability to make and unmake key appointments to the law courts and other public institutions.

Trump is your guys Zuma and the fact that you can't see it boggles the mind. He's already made several bizarre appointments to top cabinet positions, you think he will stop at that? He's not even taken office yet! You think your republican controlled congress and senate and presidency *and* supreme court will oppose him? I think they might, but don't forget he's a populist as well. He will not hesitate to shout "traitor". As if that wasn't enough, he's in Putin's pocket too.

No, he hasn't. But I guess I can't blame you for thinking that; I mean, you do watch fake news™

Wrong. It's from Trump's own words. But I guess you automatically discount everything against Trump as "fake news" because you're in a cult of personality: https://theintercept.com/2016/03/11/trum...ite-house/

Quote: “See, in the good old days this doesn’t happen,” Trump told his fans, “because they used to treat them very, very rough. And when they protested once, you know, they would not do it again so easily. But today they walk in and they put their hand up and they put the wrong finger in the air at everybody and they get away with murder because we’ve become weak, we’ve become weak.”

And also you believe in Pizzagate, so how exactly do you distinguish fact from fiction? You don't.

You need to get better reading comprehension skills. He said we used to treat protestors "very, very rough" and now "we've become weak". What does he want? He wants to be perceived as strong. Ergo, protestors should be treated "very, very rough". You're incredibly naive if you think that doesn't mean he wants violence.
