Bah, both Dems and Republicans are moderates or centrists for the most part.

On the graph of the political spectrum at the far right end is a libertarian, at the far left is Marxist Lenninist. Libertarianism stands for the most limited form of government possible, taxing only enough for a military and maybe (depending on who you talk to) roads. The rest is supposed to be privately owned. You have no equivalent in Europe or in any other place as far as I know. Libertarian is as odd as M-L, but on the other side. Our liberals are a little like your labour party (if you're from the UK). Except not nearly as left. Here is the spectrum.

<M-L----Liberal--Center)----Conservative-Libertarian>

As you can see indicated by the number of dashes liberals in this country are much closer to the center than are their counterparts conservatives. And this follows suit to real life, where we have many many many libertarians than we have Marxists. I've never met a Marxist, I know tons of libertarians.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, thanks, it helps. But is very confusing in the same time. I don't know where would I put myself on that map. Consider

I think in US I would be considered almost a communist Sadcryface

We are talking about America, love, anyone left of center is considered a communist here lol. According to my right wing friends I am a communist and a socialist.

I agree. Anyone left of center is definitely called a communist. When most Americans think of socialism they think of collective farms. As if the government is going to force us onto collective farms.

Their story goes a little like this. Capitalism (the good guy) made America what it is. Socialism (the new bad guy from Europe) is trying to make Americans wait in line for healthcare.

But that's just IMO. Lots of people listen to his podcasts. He wants to be honest, but he also wants to appeal to his listeners.

I'm inclined to agree with Ferdinand here. My impression has always been that Seth's exercise of caution while broadcasting was due to his being a seasoned broadcaster. He knows his audience and tempers his approach accordingly.

He also seems to be a very compassionate and understanding person and I would imagine this might make him very cautious with his words so as to avoid offending.

His approach has always seemed to me more focused on compassion than politics.

I don't like your title "atheist culture". I know atheists who are PC liberals to the point of censorship laws. I also know other atheist who are Libertarian Ayn Rand ass kissers and love guns.

There is no "atheist culture" there are simply diverse people of all economic and political backgrounds who don't believe in a god.
