While I do completely agree and really yes it's about time!

Does the UN even have the authority to make such a demand?

Wind's in the east, a mist coming in
Like something is brewing and about to begin
Can't put my finger on what lies in store
but I feel what's to happen has happened before...

They're the U.N.! I would imagine they are the *only* entity with the authority to make such a demand.

And actually, FUCK THEM for taking so long doing it!

Actually it's not binding, and in principle the UN cannot "demand" anything from a sovereign state. At least it highlights the issue and will force the Vatican to make some sort of statement about the report. No doubt they will squirm their way out of it.

RE: UN demands that Vatican remove child abusers
No real surprise at the response from the Pope. He has hit out at criticism of the church over sexual abuse. He said "The Catholic Church is perhaps the only public institution to have acted with transparency and responsibility. No-one else has done more. Yet the Church is the only one to have been attacked." Utter bullshit!!
