My wife and I are on Medicare. When you get to medicare age, you'd better pay for the medicare premiums [there ain't no free lunch] and you'd better get a good supplemental plan. For my wife and I, the medicare premiums and the premiums for the supplement plan total $800.00 per month. Now, that isn't all there is to it either. I am on a drug for my ulcerative colitis that insurance and medicare don't cover and it costs $2,000 per month.

My wife and I are rich and we still don't like paying the pharmaceutical companies this kind of bread every month. When you youngsters get to my age and have to start shoveling out big money even though you have medicare, I have only this to say to you -- Fuck you very much. You all hate socialism and you all wanted this system that will eventually bleed you to death. When you get hit for $2-3k a month for drugs and you cannot afford that, I will say -- it sucks to be you.

The alternative to this is, start supporting socialized medicine and candidates who will support it. If you don't, the fucking pharmaceutical companies will grab you by the nuts and they won't stop squeezing until you are dead broke.

There is another solution. My brother who is a doctor, and was a professor at a highly regarded medical school until he retired, goes to Sweden for his medical care. He gets it for very low cost and he says it's much better care than anything you can possibly get in the USA. I've used foreign medical care many times and I too think it's far better than anything we have here. Example, a few years ago I fell climbing in the Himalayas and gashed 14 inches of my leg open and broke my ankle. I was taken to a Russian Hospital and after I was in the ER, an administrator came in and said I was going to have to pay for the treatment. I expected that. I got a great doctor and he set my ankle and stitched my leg. The total cost to me was under $10.00 American.

It is true that in Russia and Ukraine you can get good health care and pay little. But you forget one thing - many Russian and Ukrainian people live like (I don't want to use bad word).
I had a surgery in Ukraine, it cost me only $250, it could be much less(may be $50) I just wanted to pay more, to appreciate good doctor's work, in the USA I would pay probably $5000.
Yes, health care cost in the USA is very high. It is very expensive and un-affordable for many.
Something has to be done. I don't know what exactly, but socialism is not an answer. Socialism will fail eventually.
If socialism didn't fail eventually I would be for it(vote for it) with my both hands.

I don't know why you say this.
In this life I am ready for any trial.
By the way I know what it means to be poor and to suffer. I was poor. And lonely.
And I am not happy that health care in my country(USA) is very un-affordable to many people. We have to find ways to change it. I just don't know how.
P.S. Hmm, so many "I know " or "I don't know" in this very short post. Smile

RE: (Un)affordable Care Act
Here is a summary of what is happening to rates of insured in the US. Summary: The affordable care act is working for most people. Individual experiences may differ.

Payments to your social club/cult office/church aren't actual charity. If you are talking about actual charity then disregard what I am saying Smile.

RE: (Un)affordable Care Act
Socialized medicine seems to work well as far as I'm aware. Look at the scandinavian countries, they pay a huge amount of taxes, but have largely free education and healthcare. And they are consistently happy. I don't get why people are so anti government and socialized healthcare. The American healthcare system sucks cock, yet we stand by privatization because for some reason the government is evil.

That's the American way, isn't it? From the founding of the U.S. we've be anti government. It's in our DNA or something. It's been taught for so long how we should never give the government too much control, and the people have the true power.

This is nuts man. Middle class people can't afford this now. We lost our plans when we were told we could keep them. I can't give my kids health insurance. I just can't.

I won't be the only one that this affects. Will it be a motivating factor for voting? I usually vote Republican anyway. Democrats probably will still vote Democrat. Will this sway the independents to the right? It just might.

At that high of a premium I really doubt you fall into the middle class. I work in a field were we structure a variety of these affordable care act plans, but have yet to see one structured so high as yours. The only explanation I can come up with is that you make a considerable amount of income pushing you to the upper income brackets.
