The god shit ... you will get over it.

My kid is beautiful as shit.
And if by "get over", you mean to say that I will eventually believe is completely false, then I was already there in reference to the religious deities. So yeah, I'm in a crappy situation of a self-identity crisis. I hate it..

You're "adjusting your views".
I think you should read this :

You're already in the cloud. Closer than you know.

Fuck I hate life!

You are an atheist if you lack belief in a god.

You are agnostic if you are not certain.

You appear to be an agnostic atheist - like most people here.

Bucky, that's a heck of a lot to read. It DOES (edit lol) look interesting, however. Also it's in an archaic tone. That may make it a more difficult read. It's going in my Kindle, nonetheless.

Agnostic atheist seems closer to the truth. Still uncertain though.

Evangelical Christianity has an explicit mission to spread the Gospel and doesn't shrink from using legislation to do so in violation of our rights.

Such behavior doesn't necessarily flow from theistic beliefs, of course, but 'tis folly to ignore that fact here in America: believers in god promote legislation which would hamstring the reproductive rights of women, and the civil rights of gays and other minorities solely on the basis of their beliefs.

Well, of course, A2.

You see, National Socialism pulled many nice German folk out of the doldrums after WWI. And what a relief - it's a comfort to know that Germans could hold their head high and have something to work toward and be proud of again. And it's not as if they had to sacrifice a goat or anything ... maybe just a few fellow Germans. But they weren't really German ... they were a disease that was destroying Germany. But sacrifices had to be made for a greater Germany.

National Socialism didn't negatively effect anyone's judgment. In fact, it helped give pride and strength to many!

So A2, your friend is a follower. Which means he/she isn't inclined to think for himself/herself. Too many friends and acquaintances like that can be a tad dangerous. Even with all their kooky ideas, it's always the better bet to stick with people who can at least reason and think for themselves.

Some people have no concept of "the slippery slope" until they find themselves at the bottom of one, flat on their ass. No

No you're not, you big goofy boo ... you're just discovering you are your own self. You are coming to the inevitable realization that you do not need a god thingy for the natural processes of life to happen.

If you, from time to time, wander from 'needing' to 'not needing' this comfortable god construct, and find the fluctuation disturbing ... just look at your kid. You made him. You, your lady, and a bazillion years of evolutionary processes made an entire human. If anything ... YOU are god. So, go change those diapers you god thingy.

By the way, speaking from god thingy experience... one is only ever the god of one's self. Everyone else is on their own.

Anyway, no need to panic... you're just atheist... the way you were when you were born. Just like your kid. Shy

One of our forum ladies (Jennybee, maybe?) recently quoted a version I really liked that said something along the lines of:

"Religion is like a penis. It's okay to have one. It's okay to tell people you have one. It's even okay to be proud of it. But when you take it out and start waving it in my face or trying to push it on me, we're going to Have a Serious Problem."
