Vegas Weddings
I'm sure everyone has heard about how in Vegas they have walk in chapels for people to go in and get married in sometimes as little time as 10 minute, what I wonder is what exactly the American Christian view on this is, and if it's ever utilised against the "Protect Marriage!" crowd.

I was raised by British mormons and America, funnily enough, never really came into any conversations except for Utah, so I never heard anything about Vegas weddings until I was an adult. (Didn't hear about how the Mormons own a bunch of casinos despite thinking gambling is a sin either, but that's another story I suppose :L )

Well, for some Vegas weddings are drunken events where you wake up in the morning and have no idea who is sleeping next to you... but there are also many who find it romantic to elope and marry in Vegas.

And if you play your cards right Elvis can marry you. Wonder what the Fundies think of that?

Oh, and this also reminds me that Portland OR. has The 24 Hour Church of Elvis. You put in quarters and not much happens except silliness. Wonder what the Fundies think of THAT? Haha.

My daughter got married in Vegas - you can pretty much have it any way you want. You pick the vows and the theme. It can be as traditional or as offbeat as you want it. Just move fast cause time is money and there's another couple waiting right outside the door.

Bring a camera cause you need to sell a kidney to afford the pictures they offer.

See here they are the bruises some were self-inflicted and some showed up along the way. - JF

All I've really seen of Vegas weddings is the drive through ones and the ones which have people literally queued up in their wedding clothes waiting their turn at the altar. I'm pretty surprised still that the fundamentalists aren't up in arms about it the same way they are about other things they think "trivialises marriage". If it is so diverse though maybe that explains why it doesn't generate so much outrage :L

I knew a couple who had eloped in Vegas. They've been married for like 20 years now or something. And they're Christians.

I guess it's ok as long as the gays aren't doing it. Hobo
