First thing I did was check this thread.

Battered and bruised...... I hope the kid's ok. Children show great resilience to injury. Hang in there.

Damn, how did I not see this thread 'til now? Hang tough, Anj. Hug

He looks better than I expected - wicked bruising, though. They need to watch him and keep him quiet 'til all that heals. Low key playtime -no rough & tumble for a while. Send him some coloring books & lots of crayons.

A friend of mine is an OR surgeon and when a patient is in the clear, he can seem kind of brusk. I think he just puts his mind where it's going to do the most good.

You said the truck was "used around the farm" ... is that where the incident took place? If so, that may have been what saved him. The ground has some give to it ... cement does not.

Glad to see that he's recovering okay! Children's bodies are so amazing when it comes to injuries. Thumbsup

Hope they figure out what's wrong his foot, too. With any luck, this'll just be a mild memory and an interesting "never have I ever" anecdote for him when he's older!

OMG. How horrible. I don't know what to say.

Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,

So glad that he seems to be doing ok.

breathe, just breathe.

wow.

You know where I am, if you are coming this direction and need anything just let me know, chauffeur, a place to crash, someone to drink with, someone to post your bail after you throttle the driver of the truck...whatever- you got it.

Glad that kiddo is alive, breathing and talking on his own. Makes me happy that medical science has gotten this far.

RE: We need a crying thread
It's been difficult to get updates. Between tests and waiting for results and daughter having other calls...I am worn out from worry, I can only imagine how she feels.

After raising hell at the hospital following the abrupt non-visit by the doctor, the original scans were reassessed by a Nurse Practioner. They are saying the brain bleed is not getting worse. He is still having issues walking though he can move his hip and knee and ankle. For some reason they were going to cast his foot - I wish I could get my daughter on the phone for a real conversation. But things look a lot better than they did.

I am sure the saving grace is that most of the soil around where they live is very sandy and most rural properties are covered with a thick blanket of pine straw. A similar event on pavement would not have turned out this well...as Kim mentioned.

He is apparently enjoying hospital popsicles very much but still wants to go home, take a bath, and have pizza.

For now we wait...my other daughter and I may make a Memorial Day run just to check on things.

Thanks you guys..you are the best.

Heart

See here they are the bruises some were self-inflicted and some showed up along the way. - JF
