We need to support Rojava.
A secular, democratic, socialist, feminist revolutionary state smack-dab in the middle of the Middle-East? And they're on the front-lines completely wrecking ISIS?

Count me the fuck in.

RE: We need to support Rojava.
This is Rojava

Welcome to the forum. It's courteous to include vital context in posts so readers aren't distracted from your point by having to look up definitions and explanations easily furnished by links, as above. But welcome nevertheless. Smile

RE: We need to support Rojava.
Quote:Also known as Syrian Kurdistan or Western Kurdistan, Rojava is regarded by Kurdish nationalists as one of the four parts of Greater Kurdistan, which also includes parts of southeastern Turkey (Northern Kurdistan), northern Iraq (Southern Kurdistan), and northwestern Iran (Eastern Kurdistan). However, Rojava is polyethnic and home to sizable ethnic Kurdish, Arab, Assyrian and Turkmen populations, with smaller communities of ethnic Armenians, Circassians and Chechens. This diversity is mirrored in its constitution, society and politics.

Since the Constitutional update in December 2016, the official name of the polity governing throughout Rojava has been the Democratic Federation of Northern Syria. While entertaining some foreign relations, the cantons within Rojava are not officially recognized as autonomous by the government of Syria or any international state or organization. For their part, supporters of its constitution consider their system a model for a federalized Syria as a whole.

'Tis the Kurds.

In my opinion, it means providing a measure of international recognition (no states currently recognised Rojava as an independant nation, but the EU has made an openning in that direction), accept embassies from their State (around six countries have diplomatic relations with them), support their presence in all meetings destinated to find a resolution to the Syrian Civil War, provide them with financial and intellectual support (France for example has lend its support to help them found a university in Afrin and two science academy), prevent the recognition of their militia as terrorist groups (that's not such a problem, only the syrian government and Turkey consider them as such) and of course provide them with military training and weapons should they need to. That's what support means.

Freedom is servitude to justice and intellectual honesty.
