Atatürk did a lot for secularization of the country, and there are 3 seperate articles in their constitution that deals with seperation of church and state. Also, though I heard this from a not fully reliable source, there's a law that if any islamist party ever gets a majority in parliament, the military is justified in enacting a coup d'etat.
