I thought Ptolemy took off with Alexander's body and buried him in Memphis in 321 or 320 BCE. Then, it was reburied in the late 4th or early 3rd century BCE, in Alexandria.

Since he died in Babylon, they embalmed his body in honey per the Babylonian custom. When Ptolemy got him to Memphis, he may have had him cremated per the Macedonian custom.

We'll probably never know where his remains are; aways happens when you hijack a dead guy. Drinking Beverage
