Also, your present girlfriend isn't on board. That means it's a no go. Either break up with her and continue looking for someone you care about and shares your polyamorous tendencies, or accept that this relationship will end before you get the chance to experience anything real. I recommend staying with this girl. Continue to talk to her about being polyamorous. It's good for her to know who you are. It also let's her know that the relationship is temporary. As it should be. Then you can both be who you are, and when it's time to part ways, there's no surprises or delusions.

Women are very complex compared to men, when it comes to matters of the heart. There are few mature adults, regardless of orientation, that would disagree. You're straight, so you've limited your pool of options to a more complex group. Not a bad thing, but to to be a good partner, you'll be well advised to educate yourself. That will be more fruitful if you don't try to get your phd in relationships during your first semester.
