I've never heard of this stinging plant so it's hardly common.
Secondly, that's Australia. Nothing wants to kill you here we have no venomous or poisonous animals. Except a tiny black spider that lives down south on the west coast in very remote (as if the west coast of the South Island wasn't remote enough) beaches in certain areas. And even when I say dangerous spider I mean like you need to go untreated for like 2 weeks for it to kill you and there's only ever been like 1 case ever of anyone ever dying.

You really don't need to worry about any harmful wildlife here. The most harmful animals here are probably domestic dogs. But they're in any country.
We don't even have non-venomous dangerous animals. No crocodiles. Sharks are rare. Stingrays are fine. If you swim with Orca though it's your own fault if you get eaten.

There is worse in Australia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dendrocnide_moroides

The sting is infamously agonizing. Ernie Rider, who was slapped in the face and torso with the foliage in 1963, said "For two or three days the pain was almost unbearable; I couldn’t work or sleep, then it was pretty bad pain for another fortnight or so. The stinging persisted for two years and recurred every time I had a cold shower. ... There's nothing to rival it; it's ten times worse than anything else."
