Welp... gonna have Cavemen again...
Harvard Medical School is seeking a surrogate for a cloned Neanderthal.

Edit:
Never mind. Seems it was a misunderstanding.

Man, if I had a working vagina, then I'd totally do this. Unfortunately, all my vaginas are in jars in my basement.

KC, you find the weirdest shit.

A single action is worth more than the words it takes to describe it.

Nope... not gonna happen.

The only DNA they have was compiled from several different fossils. And even if they had a generous amount from one place, under the right conditions, I still wouldn't want to see it happen. The animals they have cloned to date, have a very short and troubled life... a lot depends on the age of the cloned material.

Given both the technical and economic challenges to cloning a Neanderthal, it’s highly unlikely that you’ll see a Neanderthal clone in your lifetime, if ever.

I think in the end, I just feel like I'm a secular person who has a skeptical eye toward any extraordinary claim, carefully examining any extraordinary evidence before jumping to conclusions. ~ Eric ~ My friend ... who figured it out.

Not to mention the ethical aspect of the whole thing. I don't see us actually agreeing to bringing what is basically a human being to the world, to be some sort of an exhibit, to be poked and prodded.

There's a scifi book in Grahamstown public library on exactly this scenario - sadly I failed to finish reading it Sad But I may return one day to find out if the hero escapes...

The outcry will kill this project waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before any actual clone.

I am all for the advancement of science but this crosses my line for ethical experimentation.

Now if they can make dinosaurs and then I'll support it.

And justly so. And I thought we took animals for granted and as our playthings No

(Book sounds interesting, kinda dystopian and I love good dystopias... which are getting rarer these days, but...)

Scientific issues aside; as most others have said, the ethical outrage will likely prevent such a thing. A bunch of bleeding hearts will stand in the way of good science.
