.... What's the "ethical" issue.. It's just a pseudo pre-human.

A single action is worth more than the words it takes to describe it.

I'm not so sure that it's good science, but I think the ethical issue is clearly on the side of not doing this.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

RE: Welp... gonna have Cavemen again...
I am a little confused as to what the ethical dilemma really is. Are people under the impression that cloning a Neanderthal means that we would put it in a cage and cut it open to see what is inside?

I am sure we would love to learn of its anatomy in detail but we have noninvasive measures we could use to see it. Neanderthal's had a larger brain capacity than modern humans, so any cloned version would (or should) be more than capable of integrating into society and learning as much as any other person.

Different? Yes. A medical intervention of nature by man? Absolutely, but so is every time we give someone cholesterol medicine.

All science is good science. Knowledge expansion through experimentation and discovery is not a bad thing. Collateral damage and unethical reprocutions are bad things.

There was a time when we used to inflict what amounts to torture upon mental patients in an attempt to cure them of their ills. It was only through such horrific trial and error that the science expanded into the caring and effective treatments we have today.

Gotta break a few eggs, as they say.

Invasive or not invasive, his/her life would be a spectacle (at best). You don't bring living, sentient beings into this world just so you can study or experiment on them.

But we already do human trials and experiment on people...

Most people who are not borderline sociopaths.

People who have agreed to this however. Not people who were brought into this world for the specific purpose to be experimented upon. Major difference.

Just because we clone them, doesn't mean we would do it involuntarily. Assign them a guardian that has no vested interest in the science and allow them to make decisions as parents.
