RE: Welp... gonna have Cavemen again...
Because you bring into the world someone who would be completely different from everyone else. Someone who would always be regarded as a science experiment. Someone who would never be able to truly fit in or be a part of our world. Someone who would be an exhibit, a sight, a curio all their life.

If you think it's okay to do this to a living being, I don't. I'm not gonna persuade you, nor will you persuade me. Just don't tell me there is no ethical aspect to be taken into consideration. Or that there isn't a difference between this and having kids.

Really? Dodgy
She seems to be confusing scientific curiosity with sociopathy. In reality, the scientist may indeed weep for the poor, pathetic creature strapped to the table with tubes shoved into every orifice. But at the same time, he realizes the scientific importance of his work. Difficult though it may be, the scientist knows that one creature suffering now - heartbreaking though it may be - is necessary for a much greater benefit later on.

This is quite different from an antisocial personality disorder.

Celebrities are what you are talking about. You are afraid this individual would become a celebrity with a Kardashian-style tv show and fodder for tabloids.

It's not just this, BD. He/She would be a part of this world, while never truly being a part of it. Completely and totally alone in a world of billions? Can you imagine you, yourself being one?

(That is, if your last post was aimed at me)

Scientifically speaking, we're all "just one". We're all alone.

How that person is going to feel is not subject to our whims. Is being alive better than nonexistence? I don't know the answer to that question but why assume they will be alone?

Because he/she will be alone. As in, the only one of his/her species.

Perhaps he/she will not be as unsettled about this fact as you would.

That's a mighty big 'perhaps'. Drinking Beverage

But leaves the possibility open all the same.
