"Anyone can look at Christian Bale's kevlar-suited, mouth-breathing Batman, croaking his dire threats like an enraged, laryngitic frog, and immediately recognize him as the same character as Adam West's Batusi Batman, out there on the go-go floor, shaking what his dead mama gave him."

I've learned that the character is a ripoff of several ripoffs influenced by the pulp hero The Shadow. A guy named Bill Finger actually wrote the scripts and ultimately designed the character, but Bob Kane, the recognized creator, took credit for all of it. Kane didn't give Finger a co-creator credit until after the poor guy was dead.

Even Kane's art was stolen. He traced over the drawings of other comic books.

The Rise and Fall of the Third Chimpanzee by Jared Diamond. Picked it up in a used book store. It came out before Guns, Germs and Steel, a book I and nearly everyone else loved.

“Tiger got to hunt, bird got to fly;
Man got to sit and wonder 'why, why, why?'
Tiger got to sleep, bird got to land;
Man got to tell himself he understand.”

RE: What Are You Currently Reading?
I just finished "Morning Star" by Pierce Brown (book 3 in the "Red Rising" trilogy) and started "Resistance" by John Birmingham (much as I loved the first in the series "Emergence" ...a hundred pages in, and I'm just not "feeling it" yet with the second)
