Why would I be "offended" by someone else's tastes? Consider

Main Currents of Marxism Volume 3: The Breakdown by Leszek Kołakowski.

The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth.

Anyone read the Neapolitan Quartet by Elena Ferrante? I've got a hold placed on the first book, "My brilliant friend : childhood, adolescence". Looking to have my enthusiasm tempered if need be.

I see that name is actually a pseudonym of some Italian novelist. I wonder why anyone does that?

Man got to sit and wonder 'why, why, why?'
Tiger got to sleep, bird got to land;
Man got to tell himself he understand.”

Just finished "Mythos Christos" (Ed Herbert), an historical fiction novel based on the origins of christianity before, during, and after the time of Hypatia of Alexandria. It is - so far - only on Kindle ($7.99), but a superb read! It is chock full of historical fact woven thru a present day archeological team beset by a running battle with catholic church prelates and counter-archeologists!
Get it . . . read it . . . and enjoy!

RE: What Are You Currently Reading?
I have to confess, I just read Valley of the Dolls. It was on this list of books that my friends were circulating that you're supposed to be embarrassed for having read. Well, I thought some of the titles on that list sounded pretty good, and since most of my friends are snotty bitches, I decided to start reading everything on that list. I wanted to start with Hammer of the Gods: the Led Zeppelin Saga, which is obviously going to be awesome, but my local library only had Valley of the Dolls... Well, I have to admit, it was one of the worst books I've ever read - not the absolute worst. That would be Anne Rice's erotic Sleeping Beauty trilogy, which was also on the list, though to my credit I only read the first book. Oh well... I still have high hopes for the rest of the list.

Just completed The Beginning of Vision: The Drawings of Lawren S. Harris.

Now reading Meditations by Marcus Aurelius and Breaking the Spell by Daniel Dennett.

I'm sorry, but your beliefs are much too silly to take seriously. Got anything else we can discuss?
