Ahhh, a kindred spirit!!

After a long day of piano teaching, I'm finally not listening to anything! Sweet silence ...

Don't. Don't. Don't. Sorry, but I'm a bit of a grammar nazi I suppose. The apostrophe takes the place of the 'o' in not, it's the same thing with can't, or any other abbreviation of the sort. Smile

O', I've always thought it's between the ''do'' and the ''nt'', because the ''do'' is ''do'' and the ''nt'' is ''not''. But why is it between ''don'' and ''t''?
But if the apostrophe doesn't (is doesn't correct?) mean that there is an other word attached to the main word, is it correct to say ''s/he is'' as ''s/he's''?

Correct me when I'm wrong.
Accept me or go to hell.

The apostrophe just takes the place of the 'o', I'm not entirely versed in the etymology of the contraction suffice to say that's the way it is Tongue

Doesn't is correct Smile And yes, the correct contraction for "she/he is" would be "she/he's"

And to be on topic, I'm currently listening to The Whale Song by Modest Mouse.
