I used to listen to them when I lived out in California. Back when they were just a local band playing garages and dive bars. When I moved back to Ohio, I kinda lost track of them until a few years later when I heard their stuff on the radio.

Also, I'm just old, not a hipster.

I would not consider myself a hipster either. I had a roomate when I was living in San Francisco circa 2001 that was obsessed with them. They really began to grow on me even though I don't identify with that scene. Good song writing is good song writing. Perhaps that is why I have such a broad range of musical tastes

I have to defend myself against charges of hipsterism often. The "I'm not a hipster, I'm just old" line is my standard defense. I have an old NIN: SIN t-shirt that a couple hipsters were complimenting me on a while back. They asked where I got it expecting a thrift shop recommendation... I just told them "at the concert... in the early 90s... you were about 3 then".

Ironically, my argument kinda boils down to "I'm not a hipster because I was listening to things and doing things that hipsters like before there were even hipsters." Which might be one of the most hipster phrases ever.

Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.

I used to hear this all the time at my aunt's house as a kid.
It's surprisingly secular, coming from a Christian artist.
Good luck getting this one out of your head Tongue

Sharon Den Adel

Does trance with "In and Out of Love" gotta admit, I don't understand trance, don't have a clue what Armin does, why does he get credit for the song, why is he wearing earphones? Shouldn't he be playing an instrument of something?

Does grunge "Smells like teen spirit"

Does (is this pop?) "Crucify"

Does a deep version of "Ice Queen"

"Summertime Sadness"

I enjoyed these clips, but not having Matt Chamberlain on drums for Crucify was criminal. It just wasn't Crucify. No Matt, no Tori, Nnnnnnnnooooooooo! Big Grin

Here is Tori with Matt. Matt is the drummer. One of my current favourites.
